A myodisc or myopic disk is a corrective lens with a steep concave curvature that is fitted on the posterior surface of a carrier lens, or a high power single-vision lens specially ordered with slab-off the edge, creating a central prescription disc. These are used for correction of extremely high myopia often seen in low vision patients. Myodiscs are not a preferred lens type, but are the least expensive option among available lenses fitted for minus powers beyond -12 diopters. They are cheap to produce but cause scotoma, a ringed blind spot. As a result, most practitioners encourage using other lens styles.
The myodisc, has been categorized as a lenticular lens. These are rarely prescribed sets of specialty lenses used in cases of extremely poor vision, or near blindness. The...

The original Pen-F is one of the company's classic film cameras from the late 1960s. And like its predecessor, the new Pen-F is basically all metal. Some companies — Olympus included — have taken to throwing fake metal finishes on plastic bodies as a way of acquiring a retro look on the cheap, so this is a very welcome break from that. The on/off switch looks like a film rewind lever, there's a working cable release mechanism in the shutter button, and the AF assist light sits right where you'd expect to find a rangefinder, all adding to the the classic look. The only regrettable thing about the Pen-F's design is that it doesn't look enough like the original Pen-F.
As we step back and point the lens up to include the full height of the subject, it appears to lean towards the centre of the viewfinder instead of maintaining the straight, upright line that is the reality of its construction. In truth, most lenses have a degree of distortion, but the so-called ‘barrel’ distortion of wide-angle focal lengths is the most visibly apparent, particularly at the edge of the viewfinder frame. To avoid converging verticals, photographers have to shoot square-on to the subject and from a distance that allows them to include its full height, using a relatively distortion-free lens such as a short telephoto. However, this is rarely practical or even possible, particularly with prominent landmarks and skyscrapers, so a special type of lens is required – a Perspective Control (PC) lens.
