Eye Frames For Less

A window is a transparent or translucent opening in a wall or door that allows the passage of light and, if not closed or sealed, air and sound. Windows are usually glazed or covered in some other transparent or translucent material like float glass. Windows are held in place by frames, which prevent them from collapsing in. Many glazed windows may be opened, to allow ventilation, or closed, to exclude inclement weather.
The word window originates from the Old Norse ‘vindauga’, from ‘vindr – wind’ and ‘auga – eye’, i.e. "wind eye". In Norwegian Nynorsk and Icelandic the Old Norse form has survived to this day (in Icelandic only as a less used synonym to gluggi), in Swedish the word vindöga remains as a term for a hole through the roof of a hut, and in the Danish language ‘vindue’...

AMD doubles down on VR with Sulon Q, LiquidVR | ExtremeTech - ExtremeTech

Making VR go faster with LiquidVR Using better hardware and software to make VR go faster was a common thread across all the presentations, and the demos, at Capsaicin. Top of the list is accelerating what VR developers call “motion to photon” — reducing the lag between when you move your head and the display catches up. Faster response not only makes for a more-realistic VR experience, but is a key factor in... The trouble is that not only does a VR experience need to be producing frames at 90fps for smooth motion, it needs to produce two of them at a time (one for each eye).

Sony's foray into the rapidly expanding virtual reality headset market will go on sale in October at a price that drastically undercuts rival devices. At £349, the PlayStation VR is £150 cheaper than the Oculus Rift, which has a price tag of £499, and more than £300 cheaper than the £689 HTC Vive. The PlayStation VR has a resolution of 960 x 1080 pixels per eye, with a 100 degree field of view and 3D audio capabilities, while its rivals have sharper 1200 x 2160 resolutions and 110 degree viewing angles. However, Sony has delivered a headset capable of 120 frames per second (fps) compared to the standard 90. Many gamers claim they cannot tell.

Russell Westbrook's contract extension will have ripple effect on Thunder, other NBA stars

Fourteen months ago, Russell Westbrook agreed to an extension some hailed as a sign of loyalty and commitment exactly a month after Kevin Durant announced he was taking his talents to the Bay Area. That deal was a matter of necessity and risk mitigation for Westbrook, as that renegotiation and extension raised his salary for the 2016-17 season and lined him up for unrestricted free agency with the highest possible maximum salary.Friday’s announcement that the reigning MVP would agree to a...
