"I’m a French horn nut, or whatever you want to call it," Strobel said with a chuckle. Strobel's family first came to Coeur d'Alene in 1888, so his history in the Gem State is deeper than the roots of any Idaho potato. He authored the book "When the Mill Whistle Blew," chronicling the life and times of the people in North Idaho, including his relatives, when Coeur d'Alene was Wild West mill town. Strobel's role in the community has been strengthened by his 40 years working as a mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service.
