Sunglass Hut is part of the Italian-based Luxottica Group, the world’s largest eyewear company. As of December 31, 2008, the Luxottica Group operated 2,286 stores worldwide, most of those as part of the Sunglass Hut brand. Online eyewear retailer Warby Parker is one such player. Warby Parker’s Offerings. New York-based Warby Parker was founded in 2010 by Dave Gilboa, Neil Blumenthal, Jeff Raider, and Andy Hunt to sell affordable prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. It sells designer eyeglasses online for under $100 with a ‘one for one’ offer. It also has a popular service called Home Try-On in which customers can test up to five frames at home free of charge. It also saves costs by working directly with suppliers and shipping products directly to consumers with valid prescriptions.
