The taboo way to buy a $500 pair of shoes for $20 My collection now includes a pair of used eyeglasses from an optician's store in Dublin and a trilby hat bought in a pop-up market in New York City. But my favorite used item to wear? Men are also spending more on shoes. Women spend around $30 [...]

New Eyes for the Needy is a non-profit organization started in 1932 (incorporated 1948) and based in Short Hills, New Jersey, which provides people in the United States with eyeglasses and sends recycled eyeglasses to needy people overseas.
The group's vision or mission statement is: "To improve the vision of poor children and adults by purchasing new eyeglasses in the United States and recycling donated glasses for distribution in developing nations worldwide."
The organization was founded by Julia Lawrence Terry in 1932 in Short Hills, New Jersey. Terry worked in the Red Cross during the Great Depression and realized the need for eyeglasses in the US. Area residents donated basement space for sorting eyeglasses.
By the end of the 1940s, the organization was...

Sometimes, it’s difficult to read for me. I squint at small text and it gives me a headache sometimes. Because of that, I finally decided to get some eyeglasses just for reading. While before words were hard to make out without squinting, now I can read with my eyes open wide. And since I got a durable and reliable pair of mens eyeglasses , I’m certainly going to be using them for a long time still.

If you're keen to tap a trend, two of the biggest of this season are tinted lenses and eccentric frame shapes. Though it seems like it might arrive with a murmur rather than a bang, summer is coming, and no matter the state of your warm weather wardrobe (mine definitely needs an overhaul and some topping up), the fastest way to get sun-ready stylishly is with a new pair of sunglasses. While the spectrum on eyewear trends is wonderfully broad, and there are of course a bunch of classics...
Not long ago, Billy Reid was helping his wife Jeanne with a renovation project when a door fell and hit him on the side of the head. Fortunately, his trademark Paul Smith glasses, (which, as a guy who suffers from both myopia and an astigmatism, Reid had worn every day for almost 20 years) were there to break the fall. Unfortunately, the frames were damaged so severely that, unlike his head, they couldn’t be repaired.“I was probably more upset about the glasses than the actual injury,” a...
