SpecsOnTheNet is an online supplier of prescription glasses. A UK company founded in 2003 by Mark James and Jonathan Birch it was one of the first companies to supply prescription eyewear on the Internet and pioneered the use of virtual modelling software to allow customers to virtually "try on" glasses.
By supplying glasses direct from the laboratory and avoiding the overheads associated with running a high street store, SpecsOnTheNet is able to offer the same frames and lenses as a traditional optician but at substantially lower cost. This was made possible by the deregulation of the UK optical market in the 1980s.
SpecsOnTheNet suffered supply problems during it's early years, due to resistance from traditional opticians to the Internet suppliers. Despite this...

I must be doing well enough that they'll trust me on my own with the store. I made a call to their house this afternoon - I am getting concerned (for their health, I know they want to be in Seminary). Well, we've been fasting & praying for their family, hopefully they'll get better in time to enjoy having Alice the rabbit this weekend. I worked three and a half hours today. Still training, but I got to work on cards today. After everything, I found out I had a paper cut that bled on one finger (who knows if it bled on a card.

Before that, my late nights were due to six months of caring for my dad who had Stage IV lung cancer and was living with us to get the best treatment possible. My dad survived, and we came through the experience even closer than before, but during his illness I was racked with anxiety and the driving need to do my absolute best to provide the salvation he needed. I’ve grown up with allergies, the most severe being my nut and peanut allergies, so my first rational thought was that this was an allergic reaction. I popped a couple Benadryl, drank copious glasses of water, took the dogs for a run:.

For some people, losing a pair of prescription glasses is a costly mistake. For me, it’s equivalent to lunch at Chipotle.OK, I’m exaggerating, but only slightly — and not in the way you might be expecting.
