NEW YORK (AP) — Hollywood studios, news outlets and consumer brands are all dabbling with virtual reality. Many everyday folks will soon join them using 360-degree cameras coming soon from Samsung and LG. But headsets to view VR video can cost more than $1,000 once you include a high-end personal computer with fast-enough graphics. And while smartphone makers are designing cheaper headsets — Samsung's Gear VR is $100 — you need a compatible phone. Fortunately, there are plenty of free, or at least cheap, options that rely on your existing phone or PC. The experience isn't as smooth as what you'd get with Gear VR or upcoming headsets from LG, HTC, Sony and Facebook's Oculus business. I moved, Trevor stayed. My nemesis became my shadow and then simply a name, which I remembered because “Trevor Latham” seemed like an especially good name for a bully. I do remember Trevor’s house, circa 1981 or so—two sad and unkempt stories, with a front lawn full of weeds. Like me, Trevor lived alone with his father. Like my father, Trevor’s was an aeronautics engineer in one of the nearby military-industrial mills. Our fathers were both well-built, well-read, well-rounded. For all I knew, there might have been more to draw Trevor and me together. Why did Trevor pick on me. Because I was the new kid in school—a perpetual new kid who’d moved five times in the two previous years—and because I was young for my grade and small for my age.

How to Buy Eyeglasses Online and Save Yourself Some Money

AdvertisementBuying glasses can be expensive and time-consuming; not only do you have to take time out of work for appointments with your optician, you also need to take the time out to choose a frame, then pick up the glasses when the lenses have been fitted . . . and then there’s the bill for the eye test, the frames, the lenses, and various lens treatments.Like I said, it’s expensive. But more and more people are shunning the up-selling that takes place at retail locations, taking their...
