Bug-eye glasses

Bug-eye glasses are a form of eyewear. They were popular in the late 20th century decades of the 1970s, 80s and 90s, and were used for regular glasses and sunglasses. They first became popular in the mid-70s, and succeeded the cat eye glasses of the 50s and 60s. In the 70s, they were more of a square shape, and then later evolved into the more characteristic, larger, rounder and more familiar bug-eyed style of the 80s. Their popularity began to decline later, as glasses became easier to get and more affordable. They were fashionable for men and women and are still fashionable today but as retro sunglasses. They were followed by the thick-rimmed, rectangular styled glasses of the 2000s. Notable wearers are: Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Sophia...

Cara Delevingne steps back in front of the camera to model Chanel's latest sunglasses collection - International Business Times UK

After quitting the modelling industry last year at the age of 22, Cara Delevingne has been replacing her runway appearances with front rows seats at every show, none more so than Chanel. It is unsurprising then that if anyone was going to coax her back in front of the camera it was going to be Karl Lagerfeld, and he has done just that for Chanel's latest sunglasses campaign with Delevingne as the sole star. Looking every inch the cover star, Delevingne is poised with a beautiful metallic Chanel woven sequinned vest with a very blunt staggered hair style. The Chanel favourite is also pictured modelling the new range of opticals, looking relaxed in a pair of cat eye glasses with embellished arms as well as an athletic embroidered cap.

One of the reasons my wife... Being an amateur astronomer it was wonderful to be able to go outside and, because of the intense darkness, be able to spot a Magnitude 7 star with your naked eye.

Our Sunglasses, Our Selfies, Ourselves—How Micro-Shades Became the Summer’s Biggest Trend

AdvertisementThe higher the hair, the closer to God—and the smaller the sunglasses, the closer to It girl–dom, it seems. From May to August of 2017, teeny, tiny, microscopically small sunglasses became the predominant trend for Instagram lovers everywhere. Bella Hadid was oft seen with little, rounded frames resting on the bridge of her nose. Kendall Jenner preferred the angular, Matrix-esque black glasses by her Kendall + Kylie brand. Zoe Kravitz had a summerlong affair with Adam Selman’s...

This ‘Made in Chicago’ Optical Brand Is Bringing Luxury to the Midwest

Step inside the factory of State Optical Co. Courtesy State Optical CoEvery time a person unwraps a new pair of cat-eye sunglasses or tortoiseshell frames from State Optical Co., they’re greeted with an unlikely proposal: “Come see how your frame is made.”And it’s not an empty offer. It doesn’t matter if you just really like your frames, work in the...
