900000 pairs of fake brand-name sunglasses seized - Bangkok Post

Two Chinese nationals have been arrested and almost 900,000 pairs of fake brand-name sunglasses worth an estimated 130 million baht seized from them in Bangkok’s Yaowarat area. Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officers seized a total of 895,897 pairs of sunglasses with the fake brand names Ray-Ban, Oakley, Louis Vuitton, Dior and others during raids on seven locations in Chinatown on Wednesday. A Chinese man, identified as Hong Jee Zu, and a Chinese woman, Ton Ting Chu, were arrested during the raids and taken to a media briefing on Thursday. Pol Col Songsak Raksaksakul, deputy chief of the DSI, said the raid came after the Bureau of Intellectual Property Crime received a complaint that some Chinese nationals had smuggled counterfeit sunglasses into Bangkok and were selling them.
