I’ve fought through a 6-month injury, missed races due to the injury, missed a race due to the flu, and I had been working hard. It was going to happen and it was going to happen today. I had a lot of factors going against me going into the race:. Cross country plane trip 7 hour road trip to Orlando One entire day at Disney One entire day at Universal 2. 5 (if that) hours of sleep before the race General lack of sleep the entire trip Mission Space – which totally f’ed up my head and... Eating out each day Not having my normal meal before a race Oh, and did I mention exhaustion I was significantly worried about being able to meet my sub 2-hour goal.

Comics shelfie: Eleanor Davis

newyork sunglasses rain manhattan broadway upperwestside peeps umbrellas wellies Photo by Ed Yourdon on Flickr

Early this year I asked the excellent cartoonist and illustrator Eleanor Davis if she'd like to participate in Comics & Cola's ongoing comics shelfie series , which sees cartoonists photograph and discuss their book and comic collections. ' As much as this feature was conjured up to take a nosey around what artists read and are influenced by, one of the aspects I've come to like most about it is not only how peoples collections reflect their personalities- from Michael DeForge's...

35 Sunglasses Under $50 That Say “Seriously, Do Not Talk To Me Right Now”

I’m not sure when it started happening exactly, but I’ve recently realized that I’m spending more and more of my day wearing sunglasses. It started out innocently enough when I discovered that if I kept my sunglasses on while on the train, I had an additional way to communicate to people — along with my headphones, open book, “Please Don’t Talk To Me, Please” t-shirt, and the vial of blood from the last guy who asked “if my book was good” around my neck — that I didn’t want to be spoken to. So...
