What's funny about this Winnipeg Jets season (if you can find a way to find some humour in it) is how the bottom of those aforementioned NHL standings look. Western Canada is well represented here, sadly, with Edmonton (29th overall), Calgary (28th) and Vancouver (24th) joining Winnipeg (27th) in the dead pool. Yeah, but the future, most earnest Jets supporters point out — just wait for the future. It seems the "bright future" narrative is not exclusive to hockey hopes inside the Manitoba border. So which Western Canadian team has the brighter future, say in two to three years. Winnipeg The Jets, who pounded Vancouver 5-2 Monday night, stakes its claim for the Western Canadian Bright Future.
