Two weeks ago, Saqib Javed of Warren was booted from a Donald Trump rally in Warren after he screamed out in defense of Mexicans and Muslims. On Friday, he found himself in the middle of arguments between Trump supporters and opponents at a canceled Trump rally in Chicago. And on Saturday, the Muslim son of Pakistani immigrants was once again ejected from a Trump rally , this time in Cleveland, after he shouted out repeatedly: "Humanity over hate. Now Javed, 22, said he plans to continue attending Trump protests across the U. S. to send a message against what he says is the candidate's bigoted views. Javed's protests come at a time of debate over Trump's rallies, which Democrats and some Republican leaders have criticized for being violent, pointing to cases where minority protesters have been assaulted.

Recently at a niece’s engagement party her dad was a bit sore over the expenses. Perhaps it would have mattered less to him had the party been less exclusive and had he been able to invite all his and his wife’s innumerable relatives in their small town (in a distant state capital). The party was nice, filled with youngsters (including my daughters) doing choreographed dancing, and it was hard to believe that the five-star hotel we were at was a part of small-town India. (Not so hard,...
