I considered going to an Optometrist closer to my workplace so I would have easy access on the weekdays so I looked up a list of nearby providers. America's Best had 2 locations equidistant to my office so I had cross referenced those locations with Yelp reviews and decided to go to this location.
I called ahead of time to make my appointment and the receptionist was very nice. I like her so I guess you can consider this star for her. I gave her my insurance information so she can check and let me know if there were any problems before my appointment.
I walked in with every intention to buy 2 pairs of frames due to their promotion and also order contact lens. I had already looked up the deal online so I just needed to come in for the exam and pick out my lovely frames.
I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment time so I can fill out any paperwork that usual comes with a first time visit and also to look at the frames before my appointment. The receptionist was very appreciative that I came in early. She was a sweet lady.
After filling out my paperwork, I went over to the frames. I guess they have their nicer frames locked up and I didn't care for the cheap frames. A young female optometrist's assistant came over to help me. She was nice but when I asked for square shaped with bigger frames she kept suggesting some rounded frames that were small and I already knew I wouldn't like it, but I tried them on to be polite. Oh well at least she was nice.
The epic fail begins when a male optometrist's assistant came over and started talking to the girl. I overheard that she received a phone call and that was fine but he came and interrupted us when I was mid sentence. HOW RUDE! He didn't transition the moment or introduce himself.
[Note for the owner: This was Friday, January 5, 2018 between 5-5:30pm -- he was the only male worker]
So he asks me if I am in for glasses or contacts. I said both. Well obviously I am at least getting glasses if I'm looking at frames. But HE ASKED ME AGAIN if I am getting glasses or contacts. I SAID BOTH!! Why ask me if you aren't even going to listen?? Jeez leave me alone.
What really really bugged me was when he mixed up the one pair I thought was decent with other pairs and he was like HE KNOWS which one was which... Then I was like no, just put the ones I don't like back. Then he looks at me like... which one was it again?? Then he aggressively SHOVES the glasses back onto the glasses display. Umm first of all RUDE AS F*** and secondly he is potentially damaging those glasses and/or the glasses display.
Then I can tell he was thoroughly annoyed with me because he walks off. Not that there were any other customers in the store to help or anything...
I felt my anger simmering and I knew I would not be happy if I stayed. If he wasn't such a jerk I would have bought those "just OK" glasses since I really needed them but there is no way I am spending money when I am not a satisfied customer. I walked out... The receptionist promised to shred my information so they better not bug me about this. This is their internal problem the moment I walked out.
After I left I called the nice receptionist to explain the situation and she promises to relay the message to the manager. The receptionist actually had the nerve to asked if I want to come back on a day he isn't working... Why do I have to work around MY busy schedule since they can't properly hire and train their staff.
I hope they do themselves a favor and look into this situation and monitor his aggression dealing with company equipment and attitude with the customers in the future.
