Early this month I ran a post about attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, known as ADHD, which many parents and teachers don’t fully understand — to the detriment of kids who have it. ( You can read that post here. Hallowell is a child and adult psychiatrist and the founder of the Hallowell Center for Cognitive and Emotional Health in Sudbury, Mass. He is the author of a number of books, including, with co-author John Ratey, “ Driven to Distraction ,” “ Answers to Distraction,” and “ Delivered from Distraction. For the 38th year, Hays Lions Club served pancakes to more than 1,000 people Tuesday during its Standlee Dalton Sausage and Pancake Feed at Hays National Guard Armory. Pancakes specially made by the “Pancake Man” were provided, as he entertained those in line by flipping flapjacks long distances and landing them on recipients’ plates. Jim Kuper, Council Bluffs, Iowa, has been the “Pancake Man” for approximately 30 years, and everyone always looks forward to his visit, according to Dee Bodine, Hays Lions Club member and event coordinator. Kuper, who on his homemade griddle can produce 72 pancakes in two-and-a-half minutes, said he enjoys Hays and likes to visit the area. He is even a member of Hays Lions Club. The yearly fundraiser’s proceeds support 4-H, Boy Scouts, Sight Conservation and Dan Rupp Park, and.
