Some people just seem to be lucky. If there is any sort of event or pastime that has an element of luck to it, I am in trouble. There is an old saying that people make their own luck. I’d like to find whoever first said that and kick him or her in the shinbone, but knowing my luck I would probably break a toe. People seemed surprised when I decline, but they just don’t know the whole story. Even though I love sports, I might as well choose my brackets based off mascots or team uniforms because my sports knowledge is useless. I am not a clumsy person, but I’ve had numerous injuries from things happening to me. In high school, a 45-pound weight fell off a squat rack and landed on my big toe. At SCC, I had my eyeglasses broken by an accidental elbow swung by an accounting teacher.
